About the Central Library
The Central Library at Rampurhat Government Medical College is
as recent as the institute. Yet, within a short span since it’s inception, it
has been adequately equipped with infrastructure and logistics. It provides
year-round reference and information services and assists students and
faculties in their learning process. Staff members at the learning centre
assist students in identifying new and additional resources.
The mission of the Central Library is to provide resources and
instructional material in support of the evolving curriculum. We focus on acquiring
and providing access to the state-of-the-art information technology to meet the
current and changing information needs of the medical fraternity.
In keeping with the motto of life-long learning as introduced in
the new CBME curriculum, the library is well-equipped to aid the students in
achieving their desired competencies and to amply aid them in their
self-directed learning process.
The Central Library of RPHGMCH is a located in the fourth and
fifth floor of the Academic Building of the institute. The spacious library
spans an area of around ______ sq.ft. It houses a large under-graduate student reading hall with a
seating capacity of approximately 125, adequately equipped with furniture. A
separate faculty reading area with a seating capacity of 40, a post-graduate
student reading area and two large book stack areas exists. The central library
has a stock of over 2500 books and more than 100 national and international journals.
We are in the process of procurement of many more books and journals.
Aimed at keeping the students and faculty abreast with the current
updates, latest progresses and modern technologies in the field of Medical
Science, the central library also houses a separate e-reading / web browsing
section located in a large hall within the library premises, equipped with 25
desktop computers, audio-visual aids, high speed internet facilities and a seating
capacity of around 50.
The library provides services like lending of books and journals
to students and faculty. Working hours of the Central Library is from ___ AM
to ___ PM on all working days. Stringent library / reading-room rules
exist and are strictly obeyed by students and faculty. We aspire to automate
the Central Library through appropriate software in near future.
